bazil's backpackers bbh hostel & surf school was the perfect place for our surf trip! the staff were extremely knowledgeable about the local beaches and helped us find the best spots to catch some waves. We got a great rate on equipment rentals for our long stay and even received a discount. the hostel itself had awesome decorations and the facilities were very comfy. the double room we stayed in for 5 nights was spacious and we even got some free hire/lessons for both of us. the location was ideal, near the town centre and not too far from the beach. the hostel had some amazing artwork and environmentally friendly messages. We also enjoyed using the free skateboards and received great advice on local spots to visit. the proximity to shops and a delicious Thai restaurant was also a plus. There was even a park/field across the road for kids to play in. this quirky hostel was filled with chilled and friendly people, and while we're not surfers, we appreciated the surf lessons offered. Cons: nothing to be said 👍.

Great traveller feel with a good atmosphere in the hostel. The unit I stayed in with my friends was a good laugh. The hostel provides an oven, which is unusual for hostels. The location is central and close to everything you need in Westport. Free WiFi is available. Although the beds were not very comfy, I still managed to get a good night's sleep. Additionally, the hostel offers surfing lessons.

I recently had a great stay at a hotel in a coastal town in New Zealand. The hotel was located near the beach, which made it convenient for enjoying the sun, sand, and surf. The staff were friendly and attentive, always making sure I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The room I stayed in had a double bed, which was incredibly comfortable and provided a great night's sleep. Additionally, the shared bathroom facilities were clean and well-maintained. The hotel also offered a delicious breakfast, which was a perfect start to my day.
No complaints, everything was great!

I recently stumbled upon this hidden gem of a hostel and had an amazing stay. The staff were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to ensure I had a fantastic experience. They even informed me about a surf lesson the next morning, which I couldn't resist signing up for. It was my first time on the waves and I felt safe and supported throughout. The hostel itself was well-maintained and kept spotlessly clean, with daily cleaning of the rooms and shared bathrooms. The double room I stayed in was spacious and comfortable, with a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The outdoor communal space and kitchen facilities were also great additions, providing a perfect place to relax and chat with fellow travelers. The location was ideal, just a short distance from a beautiful beach. this hotel offered excellent value for money and exceeded my expectations in every way.
There was absolutely nothing about this hotel that I didn't like. Everything was perfect!

I had a really good stay at this hotel. the value for money was excellent, especially considering the prices of other places in the area. Secondly, the location was great as it was not far from an ATM or supermarket, making it convenient for any needs. Lastly, the staff were pleasant and provided basic amenities. The rooms were also big, although this meant it was a bit hard to heat them up.
The hotel could improve on the noise level in the communal area.

Lovely room, nice en-suite bathroom, equipped with sink, microwave, DVD player and TV. Cosy sitting room with log fire. Socializing and pizza night. Friendly owner, youthful atmosphere. Delightful caravan, good kitchen facilities. Helpful staff, amazing area, great lounges and kitchens. Fabulous value for the money.
Absolutely nothing to say about dislikes.

The staff was friendly and welcoming, always willing to help and answer questions. The location was convenient, close to bars and cafes. The beds were comfortable and cozy, equipped with enough pillows to sleep comfortably. the bathrooms were clean and well-maintained.
The noise level at this place was unbearable, making it challenging to get a good night's sleep. Heavy traffic on the street outside made it challenging to rest, especially as the windows provided little soundproofing.

Clean facilities, convenient location near the beach and main street, friendly staff, and great wifi. Stayed in several places in this city and NZ for the past few weeks but this hotel was impressive. Parking and transportation were also convenient.
Nothing to fault.
